🔍 How to Set Your Default Search Engine in iBrowe

Your default search engine is what iBrowe uses when you type a query in the Address Bar (also called the “Omnibox” or “Location Bar”) at the top of the browser window.

👀 How to See Your Current Default Search Engine Look at the icon on the left side of the Address Bar — this icon shows which search engine is currently set as default.

For example, here’s Qwant as the default:

If you change your default search to DuckDuckGo, you’ll see the icon update accordingly:

⚙️ How to Change Your Default Search Engine via Settings Click the Menu icon ☰ (three horizontal lines or dots) at the top-right. Select Settings ⚙️ Navigate to Search Engine Here you can select your default search engine for: Normal browsing Private browsing

🔎 Additional Search Settings You Can Customize Improve Search Suggestions — Toggle ON/OFF to send search queries anonymously to improve suggestions. (Off by default and disabled in Private mode) Web Discovery Project — Opt in to anonymously contribute search data to improve iBrowe Search. Index Other Search Engines — Enable this to let iBrowe automatically detect and save other search engines you use. 🛠️ Manage Your Search Engines Click Manage Search Engines to see all available search options:

The Search Engines section lists engines you can set as default or delete. The Site Search section includes search engines detected from your browsing (if indexing is enabled). You can also add custom search shortcuts for internal pages like Bookmarks or History. You can edit any engine’s name, URL, or shortcut by clicking the pencil icon ✏️.

➕ Adding a New Search Engine Manually If your favorite search engine isn’t listed:

Go to Manage Search Engines Click Add ➕ Fill in: Search Engine Name (e.g., Reddit Search) Keyword (a shortcut, e.g., :r) URL with %s in place of query — Replace the search term in the URL with %s. For example, Reddit’s search URL is: https://www.reddit.com/search?q=%25s 🏷️ Use Keyword Searches for Quick Site-Specific Queries You can quickly search specific sites by typing a keyword in the Address Bar:

Example: :a [space] shoes searches Amazon for shoes (if :a is the keyword for Amazon). Alternatively, type the domain (like youtube.com) and press Tab to activate the site search. You can customize these keywords anytime in Manage Search Engines.
